Growing up in the United States and France, I learned from an early age the power of culture to determine perception. I've always been drawn to the edges of social space, to see outside the box, and to see "the box" from outside. As a teenager, inspired by the work of Lee Friedlander, I made photos of layered reflections; street scenes superimposed with store window interiors. Later, inspired by Winogrand and others, I took to the streets of New York, mesmerized by the choreography of chaos and chance to be found around each corner. At Bard College I deepened my understanding of photography's role in society, and strengthened my technical skills as I studied with several master photographers. From Stephen Shore I learned to strive for heightened states of visual awareness, and to pay careful attention to composition and focus. From Larry Fink I learned to seek the secrets of the human soul, in nuance of gesture, and the dynamic interplay of sensual forms. Over the past decade I have continued these explorations through a variety of ongoing projects and gallery exhibitions. I look forward to hearing your response to my work, and I welcome inquiries and proposals for the future.
